Space Cleansing and Feng Shui

Space cleansing can never be really effective without the twin mediums of salt and rice. Salt is
one of the most powerful of cleansing agents while rice is a food offering to wandering earth spirits to ensure harmonious coexistence.

Space clearing plays a big role in enhancing the positive in the union of positive and negative. When space is properly cleansed negative vibrations are extinguished, positive energy is enhanced, and your living space feels cleaner, brighter, and lighter. Good fortune ceases to be an illusion and becomes reality.

In Feng Shui, holding a symbolic pagoda in your left hand while sprinkling rice and salt with your right hand is believed to cause any wandering spirit with evil or bad intentions to take fright and run.

The symbolic power of the pagoda is also invoked when it is incorporated into windchimes that are meant for pressing down on the bad luck of a particular corner or sector of the home.

New living space should always be cleansed, although there are several vital taboos that accompany the very powerful rice and salt ritual.

You should do this ritual only when moving into your own home, where you have a right to cleanse your space.

Never attempt to use rice and salt to do space cleansing for others. You do not know the history and provenance of homes other than your own, and when you undertake the rice and salt method of cleansing for others you do not know who, in the other realms of existence, you may be disturbing or offending.

Before you begin this space–cleansing ritual, always wash your hands and face. This is useful to remember each time you undertake any spiritually-connected cleansing. It is a humble act of respect for the wandering spirits of this earth, and it ensures that you do not inadvertently offend any of them.

Walk around the external parameters of the home in a clockwise direction, throwing a mixture of raw rice grains and sea salt on the ground, at the base of the walls. Make sire you have sufficient mixture before you start.

Always spend a few minutes tinning inwards and checking your motivation. Remember the purer your motivation, the more powerful you will be.

Repeat this inside the home, moving from room to room and walking in a clockwise direction around each room.

Finally, at the front door, throw three handfuls from the inside outward, and then throw three handfuls from the outside into the house; don’t throw too much of the mixture in each handful.

When you have finished, leave the rice and the salt on the ground until the next day before cleaning them away. Use a vacuum cleaner rather than a broom for clearing up. This is because the act of sweeping negates the good aspects of what you have done.
