
明夷卦 (Dimming Light Gua) is formed by an upper Kun (坤) Trigram against a lower Li (離) Trigram. This is the exact reverse of the formation for the Jin (晉) Gua. The sun have fallen beneath the earth, this means the sun itself has sustained injury and that it is wounded, fallen and needs time to heal. The word 夷 ‘Yi’ means wound.
