明夷卦 (Dimming Light Gua) is formed by an upper Kun (坤) Trigram against a lower Li (離) Trigram. This is the exact reverse of the formation for the Jin (晉) Gua. The sun have fallen beneath the earth, this means the sun itself has sustained injury and that it is wounded, fallen and needs time to heal. The word 夷 ‘Yi’ means wound.
明夷卦 (Dimming Light Gua) reminds us that sometimes it is necessary for us to be gentle with ourselves; when we are weakened due to physical or emotional pain, we need to respect that the body and mind by giving it time to recover.
